Lenovo Liu Miao: Development Trends and Strategies of a New Generation of Intelligent Cloud Data Centers

On December 18, 2019, the 14th China IDC Industry Annual Ceremony Main Forum was officially held at the Beijing National Convention Center. Liu Miao introduced Gartner's top ten strategic technology trend data in 2020 in his speech. For the first time, Gartner divided the top ten trends into two major categories, namely, people-centered and smart space.


In these two categories, the super-automation, multiple experiences and civilianization in the human-centric category, the edge empowerment in the smart space and the use of the blockchain have come together to become industry intelligence. For example, new financial outlets served by RPA intelligent robots, regional intelligent chronic disease management based on edge clouds, distributed Internet cafes, e-sports gaming venues, and new energy integrated service networks that support autonomous driving, etc. The formation of a variety of industry intelligent applications in the industry is also Lenovo's prediction of technological trends.


Liu Miao also emphasized that the future is service. For example, traditional server vendors will increasingly provide services related to devices in the future, and will provide customers with services in a SaaS, digital, and visual manner. The traditional manufacturers selling tires, changing tires or installing sensors for tires will also evolve into users who do not need to buy tires but pay for them by the kilometer.


Speaking of the theme IDC of this conference, Liu Miao's point is: Cloud data centers are still growing rapidly, and the number of Internet users in China is several times that of the United States, but the size of US data centers is several times that of China. From this perspective, The long-term development of China's future super-large data centers, including edge data centers, is favored by the industry.


Talking about the development trend of future data centers, Liu Miao concluded that, first, the data center is modular and high-speed evolution, and the best model of micro-module, container-type, and full modular configuration. Second, based on the decoupling + tight coupling of user application architecture, future-oriented operational efficiency and capacity. Third, with the rise of edge scenes, while the computing power is converging to very large-scale data, the proportion of edge computing power will grow rapidly.


Some data show that in the future, 50% of IoT networks will face network bandwidth limitations, and 40% of data will need to be analyzed, processed, and stored at the network edge. Therefore, the commercialization of 5G will detonate edge computing and edge cloud data centers.
